Course Work

11-month program (September – August)

VEEB PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM

VEEB Practical Nursing Program is an 11-month program (September – August).

The program uses three – four classrooms with a seating capacity of up to 36 students. All classrooms are WiFi accessible with a Smartboard, computer, and student desks. There are two nursing skills labs, each equipped with workstations that contain a hospital bed and mannequin, as well as basic bedside equipment. In keeping with advances in technology, simulation mannequins are also available in both skill labs.

Length of Course

3 trimesters (approx. 16 weeks each) Fall – Spring – Summer

Hours: Theory 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday – Friday

Days: Clinic 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday – Friday (Alternating Weeks)

The Vocational Education and Extension Board has contractual agreements for student learning experiences with several clinical agencies. Placement of students in the various clinical areas will be arranged in advance by the nursing office and students are expected to report to the assigned facility at the time designated. Special requests for clinical facilities will not be honored. Students are expected to make their travel arrangements to the clinical sites.

Faculty

All members of the faculty shall have demonstrated by training, earned degrees, scholarship, experience, and classroom performance or other evidence of teaching potential, their competence to offer the courses in the curriculum, and discharge other academic responsibilities which are assigned to them. In addition to teaching duties, full-time faculty will be responsible for:

  • Participation in the faculty activities including ongoing peer and student evaluation.
  • Participation in extra agency activity which promotes personal and program growth and development.
  • Participation in student support services including academic counseling and tutoring.
  • Student Support Services Library.
  • Utilization of the Library facilities at the Vocational Education and Extension Board is limited to those students officially enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program.

Tutoring

  • Each faculty member is assigned a tutoring hour once a week for extra help between 1:00 p.m – 2:00 p.m.
  • Tutoring schedule is announced and posted on all student bulletin boards and Moodle.

Computer Lab

The student computer lab is open to students for self-directed individualized tutoring.
